Let Us Pray Lent as the Faith Community of St. Raymond’s

For over 60 years, the people of St. Raymond’s have gathered together not only for worship, ministry or outreach, but also as a people who freely offer witness to our faith by sharing the very stories of our lives. It is in our own personal experiences that we discover that God’s loving presence has been with us at every step throughout our journey of life. We offer our witness often, through our participation in Christ Renews His Parish, Bible study groups, MAC for men, Women’s Faith Sharing Groups and other adult spiritual formation events. Quite often, during the sacred seasons of Advent and Lent, various daily reflection booklets, by prominent spiritual writers, are used by our ministries in order to assist our focus and our prayer.

This Lent there is a new dimension to the reflection booklet. Parishioners have read the Scriptures and written the reflections for each day. It is with hope and gratitude that the St. Raymond’s Lenten Team offers this booklet to the parish. Some reflections may move our hearts; others may inspire or challenge us. It is our hope that we will read each day and spend a bit of time seeking God in the insights and ideas of silent prayer.

Prepare to use this booklet by sitting comfortably. Relax and take a moment to slow down. Remind yourself that you are in God's presence and consciously offer this time to God.

Read over the Scriptures for the current day. Read slowly and spend a bit more time with the reading that catches your attention. (The citations are listed at the top of each page. You can find them in your bible or access them online: http://usccb.org/nab/ -Click on the current date.)

Ask God to guide your thoughts as you read the day's reflection. Take time to write in the "My Response" section. Writing can often express ideas that might never be otherwise recognized-so make the effort to write a response of some kind. Maybe it's an insight or question; maybe it's an example in your own life. Maybe it seems to have no direct connection to what you have just read-but trust that-and write whatever comes to mind.

Conclude by thanking God for this time of prayer. Ask for God's help to return again tomorrow. If you miss a day or series of days, don't give up. Our God is loving and patient and waits for us each day. Start again. Don't miss this chance to know more deeply God's great love and grace. Let us pray.
